About the role
January Digital is seeking a highly skilled Retool Developer for our dynamic Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for both front-end and back-end development, designing and implementing scalable web applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build innovative, user-friendly solutions that meet our business needs.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and optimize internal tools and dashboards using Retool to enhance team productivity and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and other analytics functions to identify internal tooling needs and translate them into Retool applications. This may include client services, marketing analysts, UX/UI designers, data engineering, etc.
- Design and implement integrations between Retool and internal/external APIs to streamline workflows.
- Configure and manage data workflows using SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing Retool applications for performance and usability.
- Ensure that all internal tools meet security, scalability, and usability standards.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users of Retool applications.
- Contribute to documentation of tools, workflows, and best practices to promote knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Travel Requirements: Must be able and willing to travel between NY & Dallas offices and to client and other company meetings within the U.S., as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Retool development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Retool to build and maintain internal tools and workflows.
- Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience writing SQL queries.
- Familiarity with front-end concepts and JavaScript, including basic HTML and CSS for customization within Retool.
- Experience working with REST APIs and integrating them into Retool applications.
- Basic understanding of data security principles and best practices.
- Problem-solving mindset with strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with version control tools such as Git.
- Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or Node.js for light back-end tasks.
