MARKETPLACE CASHIER

The primary function of this position is to ensure a smooth and positive checkout experience for our Marketplace shoppers.

An individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate a cash register efficiently and accurately, scanning items, processing customer payments (cash, credit, debit, etc.), and providing receipts and change.
• Bag groceries neatly and efficiently, considering weight and product type.
• Assist customers with questions about products, pricing, and store policies.
• Respond to customer inquiries and concerns politely and professionally, working to resolve any issues efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
• Follow all cash handling procedures and ensure accurate drawer reconciliation at the beginning and end of shifts.
• May assist with other tasks as needed, such as age verification, loyalty program assistance, or basic product stocking.

Education/Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety requirements
• Familiarity with working at a register (i.e., money handling) a plus.
• Retail experience a plus

• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Available to work flexible hours, including weekends, evening and holidays
• Detail-oriented and organized

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to move around freely in varied indoor and outdoor environments.
• Normal visual acuity.
• Good hearing and oral communication skills.
• Manual dexterity and ability to use a keyboard and mouse comfortably.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
• Periodically will lift, push, pull and move products weighing up to 15lbs. unassisted
• Constantly stand, walk, and move products quickly during the shift

General Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must successfully pass a controlled substance screening test and background check.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must adhere to all safety practices and company policies.

Work Environment

The Marketplace is a fast-paced and dynamic environment. A Marketplace Cashier will work on their feet throughout the shift, working collaboratively with teammates in a friendly and professional atmosphere. We value teamwork and helping each other out to ensure a smooth operation and exceptional customer service. The work can be physically demanding at times, requiring lifting, bending, and reaching.

The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, occasionally working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working on concrete flooring. Duties will require working in varying climates. Temperatures range from below zero in the freezers to 95F degrees or above outdoors.
