Histology Assistant 1-Full Time (Mornings/Days)

INOVA's Histology department is seeking a Histology Assistant to join their team!  Schedule/Shift Time: Tuesday - Saturday, 3am-11:30am

Job Responsibilities

• Communicates to maintain team knowledge, demonstrates knowledge of regulatory standards in order to satisfy compliance requirements, and participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team, and department development. 
• Obtain and process pathology specimens maintaining positive specimen identification, assist histology technicians, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure the quality preparation of all specimens. 
• Perform all clerical and computer tasks necessary to support the quality operation of the department. 
• Perform frozen section staining, cover-slip and appropriately label slides to aid in diagnostic evaluation. 
• Perform morgue and autopsy activities to ensure the respectful disposition of the deceased. Process, prepare, and stain cytology specimens to ensure quality results and accurate diagnosis by the cytologist/pathologist. 
• Assist with FNA and bone marrow procedures as required.
