Job Description:

Summary:

The Design and Build Lab (DaBL) is seeking a motivated and creative undergraduate or graduate student employee to join our team as a Student Lab Technician. Student Technicians support the daily operations of the makerspace by assisting visitors, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment. Ideal candidates will have experience or a strong interest in one or more of the following areas: digital fabrication (laser cutting, 3D printing, vinyl cutting), electronics and Arduino, vector graphics design, 3D modeling, woodworking, or general prototyping. Responsibilities include training and mentoring other students, monitoring equipment use, troubleshooting basic technical issues, organizing tools and materials, and supporting events or workshops. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a collaborative mindset are essential.

Essential Functions:

• Train and mentor other students.

• Monitor equipment use.

• Troubleshoot basic technical issues.

• Organize tools and materials.

• Support events or workshops.

• Other duties assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Part-time.

• 10 hours per week.

Salary Range:

• $17.95 - $18.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

• Must have strong communication skills.

• Reliability is required.

• Student should have a collaborative mindset.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

• Training will be provided for all major equipment and safety procedures.
