Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing Professional Development is responsible for the strategic development, delivery, and continuous improvement of comprehensive training and professional development programs across all Education Affiliates (EA) Nursing Programs. This role supports new and existing DONs, ADONs, faculty, and other nursing staff through structured onboarding, ongoing instructional coaching, compliance training, simulation education, and hands-on guidance related to nursing curricula, instructional platforms, and educational technologies.
The Assistant Director designs and delivers training materials and learning experiences that ensure nurses are prepared to successfully implement approved nursing curricula, meet regulatory and accreditation requirements, and deliver high-quality instruction each term. This position collaborates closely with the Vice President of Nursing, campus Deans of Nursing, Regional Directors of Education (RDOEs), the National Dean of Instruction, the Training and Support Specialist, and other Academic Affairs leadership to promote consistency, quality, instructional excellence, and regulatory compliance across all campuses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum Training & Implementation
- Partners with the shared services nursing curriculum department to develop, maintain, and deliver curriculum training materials for nursing faculty, including orientation resources, guides, tutorials, job aids, and reference materials that support effective curriculum implementation across all nursing programs.
- Provides comprehensive onboarding and term-based training for new nursing faculty across all campuses, including education on nursing program structures, course sequencing, curricular expectations, assessment strategies, and instructional best practices.
- Updates curriculum training materials as needed to reflect curriculum revisions, platform updates, regulatory changes, and instructional best practices.
Instructional Coaching & Faculty Development
- Provides ongoing instructional coaching and guidance to nursing faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and learning outcomes.
- Conducts classroom observations, provides constructive feedback, and develops individualized professional development plans in collaboration with campus leadership and Academic Affairs.
Compliance Training & Regulatory Support
- Partners with the Nursing Compliance and Academic Affairs teams to develop and deliver compliance training programs to ensure nursing faculty understand and adhere to federal, state, and accreditation requirements, including Board of Nursing regulations, programmatic accreditation standards, and institutional policies.
- Maintains documentation of compliance training activities and tracks faculty completion to support audit readiness and accreditation processes.
Simulation Training & Support
- Leads simulation-related training and support initiatives, including orientation to simulation platforms, documentation systems, scenario implementation, debriefing techniques, and evaluation tools, in collaboration with simulation coordinators and academic teams.
- Provides hands-on guidance to faculty on best practices in simulation pedagogy, scenario design, and assessment of student performance in simulation environments.
Technology & Platform Training
- Partners with key stakeholders to ensure faculty are proficient with educational technologies, learning management systems, and digital instructional tools to support effective instruction.
Training Coordination & Campus Support
- Maintains and manages a structured training schedule, including monthly, term-based, and ad hoc training sessions, ensuring timely communication and documentation of training activities.
- Provides hands-on support to campuses as needed, including travel to campuses requiring direct assistance to support faculty success, curriculum implementation, or instructional challenges.
- Collaborates with RDOEs, the National Dean of Instruction, the Training and Support Specialist, and other Academic Affairs team members to align training initiatives with Education Affiliate’s priorities and campus-specific needs.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts related to faculty development, training effectiveness, curriculum implementation consistency, instructional quality, and regulatory compliance across nursing programs.
