Supervise and coordinate employees and processes to meet the needs of customers, both internal and external. Provide and apply visual management tools in support of continual improvement measures. Provide effective management and support of operational activities in accordance with company policy and procedure. Assure that the appropriate materials, tooling, visual management tools, equipment and supervision are provided to the work areas.

 

Responsible for: Safety | Quality | Delivery | Productivity | Production Reporting | Production Scheduling | Continuous Improvement | Training | Resource Allocation  

 

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Key deliverables in order: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity
  • Ensure shipment dates are updated and communicated to inside sales.
  • Maintain daily efficiency tracking and develop productivity improvements.
  • Supervise the quality of the employees’ work, and provide any needed assistance to meet both product quality and employee safety expectations.
  • Coordinate manufacturing needs with other departments and provide support to other departments in attaining of the company’s mission of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure proper monitoring and compliance of employees to OPW policies.
  • Ensure that the needed training is provided to employees.
  • Provide visual management tools and increase visual management in shop.
  • Support and supply continual improvement procedures.
  • Work to improve 6S in the plant.
  • Other activities as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering / Business / other applicable field, or 10+ years relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in supervisory role, preferably in manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle transactions/Ops systems
  • This position is based in the Knappco facility in Hamilton, OH.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred 10+ years of experience as line leader or supervisor in manufacturing.
  • Proven track record within key functional areas with measurements of on-time production, order completion, machine/equipment maintenance, material flow and supply chain and production efficiency.
  • Experience in working across broad group of operations teams, including, but not limited to assembly, machining, welding, maintenance, logistics.
  • Working knowledge of Lean systems and tools
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Leadership/mentoring skills and prior supervisor experience desired
  • Listen and communicate effectively with production and office employees.
  • Must be able to draw conclusions and make fair judgment on employee issues.
  • High level of customer focus and ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times with customers and coworkers
