University health services is conveniently located in the heart of campus and offers many services to UO students, including medical care, counseling services, well-being programming, and much more. UHS is a nationally accredited, multi-specialty healthcare organization with more than 150 staff whose primary focus is the health and well-being of UO students. In addition to their board-certified primary care team, the staff includes a variety of specialties encompassing mental health, various therapies, and health promotion. Position Summary

Reporting to the vice president for student services and enrollment management (SSEM), the associate vice president and executive director of university health services (AVP/ED)

focuses on strategic processes consistent with the university's strategic planning and goals related to health care provided to current students. University health services is an integrated service providing comprehensive, best practice, health, mental health, and wellness programs. The AVP/ED specifically oversees the multiple departments inside the university health services, including primary care, psychiatry, nurse specialty, laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, physical therapy/sports medicine, dental, central services, health insurance, health promotion, and counseling services. The university health services (UHS) portfolio has approximately 140 employees, and the university counseling services portfolio has approximately 60 employees, including officers of administration, classified staff, graduate employees, and student employees.  The AVP/ED is directly responsible for the UHS annual budget of $14 million and oversees the $4 million university counseling services budget.

The AVP/ED provides consultation and advice to campus administration related to university health administration and programs that support student health and success on campus. The AVP/ED provides expertise in managing university physical and mental health services and wellness programs, regardless of funding source, and provides research and analysis to support institutional policy initiatives related to student health and wellness. The AVP/ED is expected to participate as a leader in national and state student health services and wellness discussions as an advocate for serving students through providing outstanding student health care across the campus, state, and nation.

The AVP/ED supervises the department administrative leadership team, comprised of the medical director, director of health practices, associate director of patient services and compliance, director of ancillary services, director of finance and business operations, director of counseling services, and an executive assistant.
