JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Music is looking for a part-time lecturer in the area of classical guitar. The successful candidate will teach applied lessons at both the BA and BM program levels, as well as supervise recitals of students when applicable, and adjudicate guitar juries each semester in conjunction with the program lead. This lecturer will also collaborate with the guitar program lead to determine applied lesson load, and the lecturer may also be assigned other courses if interested by the department chair.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
- Teach undergraduate students in applied lessons of classical guitar, as well as additional courses in the Department of Music as assigned
- Coordinate with guitar program lead on teaching content
- Attend guitar juries each semester for all guitar students
- Supervise guitar students for recitals and projects when applicable
- Other duties as assigned
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar
- Successful teaching experience at the high school level; university level preferred
- Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching
- Excellent interpersonal, musical, and communication skills, both written and verbal
