Xylem is seeking mechanically inclined professionals who are passionate about hands-on work and problem-solving. As a Field Service Technician, you’ll perform field service activities at customer sites in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. You’ll be responsible for troubleshooting systems, maintaining equipment (mechanical, electrical, diesel), conducting preventive maintenance, managing parts inventory, and identifying safety issues across both company-owned and customer-owned equipment.

This role includes direct customer interaction, travel to various job sites, and exposure to a variety of technologies. Critical thinking, independence, and a commitment to safety and service excellence are key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

To succeed in this role, the individual must be able to perform the following duties:

  • Ensure a safe working environment at all times and promote a safety-first culture.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshoot systems across mechanical, electrical, and diesel platforms.

  • Manage parts inventory and perform basic repairs.

  • Maintain company property, tools, and vehicles.

  • Represent Xylem professionally during all customer interactions.

Requirements

Travel Requirements

  • Daily local travel is required.

  • Up to 25% overnight travel.

Driving Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check.

  • Must complete required driver documentation, including:

    • Driver Disclosure and Release

    • Employee Drug and Alcohol Statement

    • FMCSA Certificate of Awareness

    • Driver’s Certificate of Violations

    • Statement of On-Duty Hours

    • Road Test

    • Copy of Medical Certificate

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 0–2 years of technical work experience (1 year preferred).

  • Must be able to obtain required customer site clearances.

  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical Card.

  • Previous experience in a similar field is preferred but not required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical, electrical, diesel, and/or fusion experience (depending on business unit).

  • Comfortable working independently without direct supervision.

  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and smart devices.

  • Customer service mindset with strong communication skills.

  • Ability to synthesize technical information and present it clearly.

  • Able to derive insight from customer experience and adapt solutions creatively.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $22 to $28 plus bonus.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave
