Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students.

CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi, and is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Under the direction of the Director of Student Academic Success, the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) Manager will assist the Director of Student Academic Success with determining student eligibility for accommodations and work to develop updated accessibility services, testing policies, procedures, and schedules in response to campus demands.

 

The SAS Manager functions as a moderately experienced professional who will help in determining reasonable accommodation for students with disabilities. Work is completed with a moderate level of independence under the direction of the Vice Provost of Student Affairs. While overseeing compliance with ADA policy, provide training to CDU’s Colleges, offer support services, identify needed assistive technology, and provide updated procedures in response to campus demands.

 

This position serves the Student Affairs Department by collaborating with the Director of SAS & Director of Student Academic Success to; a) provide high-quality services to help students succeed and have an excellent program experience, b) provide administrative support to directors, faculty, and other duties to serve all college programs. This position will require the individual to work onsite.

 

Budgeted Salary: $71,928 - $94,000

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee the scheduling for Accessibility test proctoring for other departments including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training temporary Accessibility
• Assist with providing consultation to faculty and administration regarding access to facilities, technology, and instructional programs.

• Maintain necessary and appropriate records and data related to program funding as required by MIS reporting and other regulatory agencies.

EDUCATION:

• A Master's degree in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; and fifteen-semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability, to include, but not be limited to:
  • (A) Learning disabilities;
  • (B) Developmental disabilities;
  • (C) Deaf and hearing impaired;
  • (D) Physical disabilities; OR
  • (E) Adapted computer technology; OR
• Valid CA driver’s license and proof of

 

EXPERIENCE:
