How you'll contribute
A Financial Analyst who excels in this role:

  • Supports the financial operations of the hospital through analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial statement support, account review, and operational performance monitoring. 
  • Partners with finance leadership, department managers, and hospital administration to provide accurate, timely, and actionable financial information that supports decision-making, policy compliance, and overall financial performance.
  • Prepares, analyzes, and distributes financial reports, dashboards, and supporting schedules for hospital leadership and department managers.
  • Performs monthly variance analysis, identifies trends, and provides clear explanations of financial performance compared to budget, prior year, and forecast.
  • Assists with monthly close activities, including general ledger review, journal entry support, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation support.
  • Supports the annual budget process by preparing templates, gathering data, analyzing departmental requests, and assisting leaders with budget assumptions.
  • Maintains financial schedules, account analyses, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with hospital and corporate policies.
  • Monitors labor, supply, contract service, volume, revenue, and expense trends to support operational decision-making.
  • Partners with department managers to review financial results, explain variances, and promote adherence to financial policies and budget expectations.
  • Assists with financial audits, cost report preparation, community benefit reporting, and other regulatory or corporate reporting requirements as assigned.
  • Supports cash, contractual, physician contract, and other finance-related analyses as requested by the CFO, Controller, or hospital leadership.
  • Maintains confidentiality of financial, operational, patient, and employee information in accordance with hospital policy and applicable regulations.

 

Functional Demands

  • Demonstrates strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Reading, writing, speaking, hearing, and visual acuity are necessary to perform job responsibilities.
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk or computer workstation are required.
  • Standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, filing, and data retrieval may occur throughout the day.
  • May occasionally be required to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work normal business hours and overtime as needed to meet hospital, departmental, month-end close, budget, audit, and reporting deadlines.
  • Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and demonstrates consideration and respect toward others.

 

What we’re looking for
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required. Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance with three years of directly related healthcare finance experience may be considered.


Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, general ledger review, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis preferred. Healthcare or hospital finance experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word required. 
  • Strong analytical, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills required. 
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain effective working relationships with hospital leadership, department managers, medical staff, nursing personnel, auditors, and corporate finance partners.
