Collins Aerospace, an RTX Business currently has an exciting IT position available that supports the Collins Aerospace mission of making the world a safer place.  We are currently seeking a Windows Administrator that will be working in a highly collaborative, multi-platform and multi–disciplined environment. The Systems Administrator is required to have an active secret security clearance as they will be responsible for deploying and maintaining classified IT infrastructures.

The candidate’s day-to-day activities include but are not limited to Windows server management; storage management; file server management; access management; data backup; software and license configuration; and workstation support.  Each day in the life of a Systems Administrator can bring something new – building a new IT infrastructure for a group of engineers, restoring files due to an outage, updating virus definitions and security patches, teaming with our brilliant engineers on how to improve their processes, and more.

** This position is onsite in McKinney, TX. **

What YOU will do:

  • You will provide System Administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows (Primary OS) and RedHat Enterprise Linux environment.

  • You will understand and work with Window Servers internals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and Linux integration methods. 

  • You will work as team member in a fast-paced technological environment.  Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).

  • You will understand data RAID, data backup uses and technologies. Install and configure software applications requested by end users.

  • You will work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.

Education & Experience:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience. 

Qualifications you must have:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.

  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required.

  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements within 6 months of start date.
    Experience with security infrastructure products and capabilities.

  • Must have experience with Windows and Linux/Unix server and workstations.

  • Experience using VMware vCenter, vSphere, VDI (Horizon), and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.

  • Must be able to develop solutions and documentation to a variety of technical problems. 

  • Experience with Windows architecture, deployment, administration, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity products.

  • Experience with application installation and multi-server environment/deployment.

  • Weekend and after-hours support may be required.

Skills We Value:

  • Experience with NetApp

  • Scripting Experience (PowerShell, Ansible, Python)

  • Experience hardening systems using tools like SCAP and following STIGs.

  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.

  • Critical thinking – ability to solve technical problems independently and with collaborative teams.
