In this position...
You will be a key member of the Vertical Electrical & Software Architecture (VESA) team. The VESA team owns the complete vehicle electrical and software architecture for each FNV4 program.

We work with the horizontal architecture teams (those aspects of the electrical and software architecture that are the same across different vehicle programs) to fully define the architectural content of each program. Key work areas for the team include developing a comprehensive architectural specification for upcoming (yet to launch) vehicle programs and to work with various functional teams to validate and document Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

What you'll do...
Our team will also be working on the evolution of Ford’s electrical architectures. Your responsibilities will include the following:

Own the definition of the vehicle electrical and software architectural aspect of the vertical architecture spec, for one or more of the FNV4 programs from now through post launch.
Drive the resolution of architectural issues on the programs, particularly the ones that are cross-functional.
Document the overall electrical and software architecture for a given vehicle program, the elements that it is composed of, and interfaces between those elements.
Review the decomposition of features into the building blocks of the architectural platform, and their allocation to the electronic control units (ECUs). Ensure compatibility of the decomposition with the platform and promote consistency across vehicle programs. Assess if updates to the platform are needed to accommodate feature needs.
Document how the various layers of the SW architecture, the services of the platform, and their APIs are brought together to realize customer experiences.
Support the implementation of the “SW modernization” requirements (e.g. semantic versioning, over the air SW updates) on the ECUs in the program.
Assess what updates to the System and SW platform might be needed to accommodate new features and user experiences. Work with the horizontal System and SW platform teams to get the changes incorporated into, and then utilized across all programs.
Work with various functional teams on to support the assessment of architectural KPIs such as latency, power utilization (including Key-Off Load), network bandwidth, CPU Utilization, etc.
Mentor engineers on topics related to vehicle electrical and software architecture.

You'll have...
Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines
8+ years of experience with systems and software architecture for embedded systems
4+ years of experience with model-based systems engineering
2+ years of experience programming with one of C/Python/C++, and with using tools such as GIT and JIRA

Even better, you may have...
Master of Science Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines
10+ years of experience with systems and software architecture for embedded systems
5+ years of experience with model-based systems engineering
4+ years of experience programming with one of C/Python/C++, and with using tools such as GIT and JIRA
