About the role

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Engine Business Unit  in Columbus, IN.

Job Summary:

Contributes to the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while contributing to teams.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Ensure safety compliance by assisting in the creation and implementation of manufacturing processes.
  • Achieve manufacturing goals by contributing to specific project work.
  • Support business objectives by aligning manufacturing processes with business goals.
  • Meet product specifications through the application of manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Improve equipment and processes by applying your knowledge of manufacturing practices.
  • Develop standards and methods using continuous improvement tools.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external resources on project assignments.
  • Learn and apply Cummins' manufacturing principles and practices to enhance overall operations

 

To be successful in this role you will need the following: 

  • Collaboration: Building partnerships and working collaboratively to meet shared objectives.
  • Effective Communication: Developing and delivering communications that cater to different audiences' needs.
  • Health and Safety: Promoting proactive health and safety behaviors to contribute to an injury-free workplace.
  • Drawing Interpretation: Integrating product design and engineering drawings to develop optimal manufacturing processes.
  • Equipment Procurement: Selecting manufacturing equipment that meets Cummins' specifications and project needs.
  • Manufacturing Analysis: Using digital tools to model and simulate processes for data-driven decisions and continuous improvements.
  • Process Documentation: Creating detailed manufacturing procedures to ensure process continuity and standardization.
  • Problem Solving: Applying systematic analysis to solve problems and prevent recurrence.

    Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
    College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required. 
    This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

    Experience: 
    Basic level of relevant work experience required.
  • This role is on-site 5 days a week.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing line to ensure daily production goals are achieved. Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to improve efficiency and quality. 
  • Utilize Data analytics for process improvement and quality control.
  • Assist procurement of manufacturing equipment and implementing new process.
