Position Summary

This position performs follow-up insurance billing and collection activities on a minimum of 30 claims per day; makes collection calls, verifying accuracy and completeness of claims, contacts insurance companies and collection agencies in regard to expediting payments from various payers for physician’s services.

Responsible for reviewing and evaluating insurance filing order changes of past visits to retroactively apply coverage changes and bill appropriate insurance coverage. Perform follow up on eligibility denials and identify active insurance coverages.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review insurance follow up records that appear in the Visit Filing Order work queues to determine whether the insurance change should be accepted or rejected.
  • Perform collection follow up duties from all payors for insurance claims that have received a denial of eligibility from the payor, including those related to coordination of benefits.
  • Utilize payor websites and real time eligibility to confirm patient coverages.
  • Contact patients and / or guarantors as needed to confirm insurance coverages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  Assist with special projects.
  • Consistently meet both quality assurance and productivity standards established for the department.

Salary Range

$17.34 - $25.40 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
