Supervisor - Test Engineer - Medical Devices

The Supervisor -Test Engineering will be responsible for supervising Test Engineers for full life cycle development, test, deployment of medical devices in the achievement of company goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises Test Engineering work activities to provide timely and efficient flow of services and projects.
- Assists in hiring, developing and retaining the best talent for the engineering team and the organization. Actively provides coaching and career development assistance to team members.
- Supports R&D in feasibility studies, dry-runs and helps R&D to create test requirements/acceptance criteria.
- Works with R&D in early design phases to ensure design for test and to deliver test systems in parallel with products.
- Creates verification test protocols, performs verification activities and creates verification test reports
- Drives test efficiency and data collection utilizing test automation.
- Coordinates deliverables and manages dependencies with hardware/software development teams.
- Supports Manufacturing vendors to provide processing improvements.
- In support of Operations and Quality, supports investigations through root cause analysis of test systems and products. Delivers data to support operational and quality analytics.
- Provides Regulatory Department technical support for projects as needed.
- Supports Marketing and Product Management with technical information to be used for training and marketing of assigned products.
- Supports surgeon and distributor customers by training and/or educating on technical aspects of assigned products as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience. Medical device industry experience is preferred.
- Experience of supervising, coaching and mentoring junior (test) engineers.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Strong engineering experience with demonstrated capability to deliver test systems in controlled verification/production environment
- Creativity to manage constraints and build relationships with all stakeholders
- Understanding of hardware, firmware, software interfaces
- Understanding of test strategies, procedures, automation at component level and full system level.
- Manufacturing process knowledge in medical device manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of Quality System and focused on compliance.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation, hardware debuggers, software development environments and debugging tools. Bench top testing and troubleshooting with typical lab equipment & applicable software.
