We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team and be responsible for designing, validating, implementing, and transferring to manufacturing, various subsystems related to Direct Air Capture. This individual will define the specifications and requirements for various key components, collaborating with Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Prototype & Test, Project, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that product designs are aligned with all requirements across the organization.

This individual will define the specifications and requirements for various key components, collaborating with Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Prototype & Test, Project, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that product designs are aligned with all requirements across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and implementation of electrical and control systems of Carbon Capture’s Direct Air Capture product line
- Define the requirements and specifications of various key system and subsystem components aligned with overall objectives
- Conceptualize and design power and control schemes with an eye toward system, mechanical, electrical, software, and further site integration that will elevate user experience
- Select and specify electrical system and subsystem components while working with more junior engineers, guiding them through the product development process steps.
- Work with vendors and Supply Chain team to select and procure modern and efficient components and control equipment
- Contribute to the integration of designed sub-systems with the product line and validate their functional performance; integrate the various local and field instrumentation to ensure all sub-systems can reliably operate within target specifications
- Conduct design reviews aligning product requirements and proposed design solutions with the company’s goals
- Involve industrial practices and standards and guide other team members to focus on critical product features
- Work with the Project group to ensure adequate compliance with the National Electric Code and accepted industry-recommended practices such as NFPA, API, OSHA, UL, CSA, and IEEE
- Solve challenging engineering problems by coaching team members to focus on quality while keeping project risks under control
- Contribute to delivering full engineering package and manufacturing support to ensure a smooth transition into production
- Conduct risk assessments, develop and maintain strong safety standards, for both prototype units and plant operation
- Manage documentation to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and protocols
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or applicable Engineering field with 8+ years of experience
- Strong understanding of industrial power and control systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial and process controls: PLCs, relays, VFDs, HMI, SCADA. etc.
- Experience with common industrial communication and control protocols standards (Ethernet, PowerLink, EtherCAT, Mod-Bus, RS-485, Fieldbus, TCP/IP)
- Experience in programming industrial control systems per IEC 61131
- Knowledge of NEC Article 670 and NFPA 79 for industrial machinery and other relevant national and international standards in the area of electrical distribution low/medium/high voltage
- Excellent knowledge of low/medium/high voltage electrical systems including protection relays, safety interlocks, arc fault and short circuit analysis, load studies, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, emergency generators, UPS’s, and variable frequency drives
- Experience with electrical schematic design, electrical distribution design, and single-line diagram preparation
- Ability to track hardware issues, drive root cause investigations, and take corrective actions.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Perform well working closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in new product design cycles and new product introduction processes
- Experience in providing field support and participating in check out, commissioning, and start-up of industrial installations.
- Good working knowledge of safety system & documentation, automation validation, quality assurance, etc.
- Conduct Safety assessments and bring strong contributions to electrical and overall system FMEA
- Adaptability to a start-up environment; capability to take initiative, develop own tasks and timelines, and solve broad challenging problems
