Job Summary:

We seek a visionary Principal Product Manager to define and drive the strategy for our next-generation server and storage platforms targeting cloud, AI, and enterprise data center infrastructure. This is a senior individual contributor role that demands profound technical expertise, exceptional strategic thinking, and the ability to influence across the organization without direct authority. You will operate as a subject matter expert, shaping product vision, translating market disruptions into actionable roadmaps, and mentoring teams on best practices. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Product Management, you will be a key player in maintaining Supermicro's technology leadership and accelerating our growth in critical markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Vision: Define and own the multi-year product strategy and vision for a key segment of our server/storage portfolio, ensuring it aligns with Supermicro's ambitious growth objectives in AI, HPC, and hyperscale computing.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct deep, insightful market research and competitive analysis to identify untapped opportunities and potential disruptions. Synthesize trends in AI server architecture, advanced cooling (e.g., direct-to-chip, immersion), sustainable infrastructure, and high-performance networking (InfiniBand, RoCE) into a compelling product vision.
  • Technical Product Leadership: Translate complex customer needs and overarching business goals into detailed, innovative technical requirements and architectural guidance for engineering teams.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Lead and align cross-functional teams (Engineering, Marketing, Sales, FAE, and Supply Chain) to execute on the product roadmap, resolve critical path blockers, and deliver industry-leading products on schedule.
  • Customer Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to our most strategic enterprise customers and partners, including C-suite engagements. Present the product vision, gather critical feedback, and champion the customer perspective internally to inform strategic decisions.
  • Commercial Acumen: Develop robust, data-driven business cases, including TCO/ROI models, to secure executive buy-in for new product initiatives and prioritize the portfolio for maximum market impact and profitability.
  • Process Optimization: Champion best practices in product development and lifecycle management. Identify and lead initiatives to improve cross-functional collaboration, release cycles, and time-to-market.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a mentor and thought leader for the broader product management organization, elevating the team's strategic and technical capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in product management with a proven track record of defining and launching complex, successful hardware products for data center/cloud environments.
  • Recognized as a deep technical expert in server architecture, rack-scale integration, and data center infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing senior leadership and cross-functional teams (R&D, Sales, Marketing) as an individual contributor.
  • Expertise in high-performance networking (InfiniBand/Ethernet), AI/ML infrastructure, and emerging technologies like liquid cooling.
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills with a proven ability to build business cases, define market requirements, and make data-informed prioritization decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging effectively with both technical engineers and executive-level audiences.
  • Experience with complex enterprise sales cycles and a deep understanding of partner/channel ecosystems.
  • Results-driven with a history of exceeding performance targets and bringing innovative products to market.
