We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Los Angeles, CA.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Analyzes construction project requirements in terms of personnel required for observation of construction progress and for testing and sampling of materials.

  • Schedules and oversees the work of internal staff assigned to observation and testing activities.

  • Observes construction progress in the field and writes reports to record observations and summarize test results. Monitors contractors' progress against established schedule.

  • Reviews payment requests and authorizes payments up to assigned dollar limit or submits them to more senior personnel for authorization.

  • Recommends solutions to field construction problems, acting as intermediary between contractor and internal staff.

  • Provides input for the preparation of final estimate package.

  • Performs other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

  • Complexity (Variety or uniqueness of tasks; relative difficulty or importance of work performed; size of unit supported, etc.): Performs non-manual field work that involves applying acquired knowledge and experience in the observation and monitoring of moderately complex construction contracts and the coordination of related activities.   • Decision-Making (Supervision received; independent judgment or initiative; consequence of error): Most assignments are performed independently, making decisions on construction coordination and scheduling problems.

  • Work direction given to others (Titles and number of personnel; type of direction given): Coordinates with, guides and/or reviews the work of junior professionals, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.

  • Internal Contacts (Required interaction/relationship with others within the organization): Interfaces with senior technical professionals and technical managers.

  • External Contacts (Required interaction/relationship with others outside the organization): Frequently contacts client representatives, contractors, and regulatory agency personnel to discuss requirements or coordinate efforts.

What will you contribute?

  • Four years experience required with Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

  • Good mathematical, computer, communications, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Certification in applicable areas of work assignments and as requested by the client.

  • Others:

  • Requirements typically include: ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat and crawl down into ditches; ability to observe construction activities and distinguish colors; and ability to perceive back-up alarms and other warnings.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions, subject to insects, flooded terrain and equipment/traffic hazards.

  • Job also requires ability to process paper and electronic documents and utilize computer.

  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
