Job Description Summary

The PCC coordinates and facilitates entry of patients into the MUSC system, contributes to a plan of care for patients in a specialty area utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process and interacts with other members of the healthcare team to achieve desired results. The PCC implements programmatic changes and updates clinical practice based on current research and changes on the age and level of development of patients while considering the needs of the patient's family. As the patient advocate, the PCC coordinates the needs of the nursing and technology team members daily, while keeping the patient as the primary focus.

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday. No nights, weekends, major holidays, or call.

The PCC implements programmatic changes and updates clinical practice based on current research and changes on the age and level of development of patients while considering the needs of the patient's family. Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and three years related nursing experience. Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA).

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
