GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Store Manager at The Exchange 1888 Apparel & Post is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of Tiffin University's Campus store/mail center. This includes overseeing customer service, visual merchandising, inventory management, managing the store’s social media presence, updating the website, and collecting course material adoption, and coordinating store activities to ensure an efficient, welcoming, and profitable retail environment. Additionally, this role includes processing student, faculty, and staff packages using the Mail Center's package tracking system and sorting them for delivery. Keeping department mail stations updated. Assists with the daily sorting of incoming mail and packages to the appropriate office compartments for timely distribution, as well as sending packages and mail. 

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Customer Service & Sales

  • Supervise and participate in customer service activities to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
  • Resolve customer complaints and handle returns and exchanges efficiently.

Store Operations

  • Assist in opening and closing the store, including cash handling and daily sales reporting.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment.
  • Implement store policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Inventory Management

  • Assist in the receiving, pricing, and displaying of merchandise.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking efforts.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and assist with reconciliation processes.

Merchandising & Promotions

  • Collaborate with the Store Manager on visual merchandising and promotional activities.
  • Create and maintain engaging product displays to attract customers.
  • Plan and execute seasonal and special event promotions.

Mail Center

  • Manage the departmental budgets for the Mail Center while maintaining budgetary awareness in processing mail and minimize postage/shipping costs whenever possible.
  • If necessary, assist in daily operating (processing/sorting/delivery) of incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Be knowledgeable of postage account numbers.
  • Learn and maintain competency of mail/parcel processing software.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working knowledge of postal and courier regulations.

Course Materials

  • Manage course materials, including faculty adoptions, ensuring accuracy and student support.

Staff Management

  • Supervise and train student employees, delegating tasks and ensuring performance standards.
  • Schedule shifts and manage time-off requests for student employees.

Technology & Reporting

  • Oversee the operation of point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
  • Prepare and analyze sales reports, identifying trends and making recom
