Cloudflare’s edge and network make it possible to solve problems at massive scale and efficiency which would be impossible for almost any other organization.</p> <h3 id="SeniorSystemsEngineerR2IndexingRemoteUS-Whatyou'lldo"><strong>What you'll do</strong></h3> <p>This is a newly found subset of the R2 Storage team will be focused on building out new indexing and discoverability features for data inserted into R2 and other storage components at the Cloudflare edge. In this role, you will work with a top-notch engineering team to expand Cloudflare's capabilities by ensuring continual reliability, maintaining best-in-class performance, and implementing new features and functionality.</p> <p>You will own your code from inception to release, delivering solutions at all layers of the software stack to empower Cloudflare customers. On any given day, you might write a design document that outlines how you plan to solve a specific problem, modify how R2 Storage processes requests, or fix a bug in how our user experience renders. You can expect to interact with a variety of languages and technologies including, but not limited to JavaScript, Typescript, Rust, and C++.</p> <h3 id="SeniorSystemsEngineerR2IndexingRemoteUS-Examplesofdesirableskills,knowledgeandexperience"><strong>Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience</strong></h3> <ul> <li>5+ years experience working with distributed systems or developing on cloud platforms.</li> <li>Experience managing high volume software applications.</li> <li>Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional design.</li> <li>Knowledge of at least one modern strongly-typed programming language such as Go, Java, C#, Rust, or C++.</li> </ul> <h3 id="SeniorSystemsEngineerR2IndexingRemoteUS-BonusPoints"><strong>Bonus Points</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Previous experience working on distributed database internals or search engine internals. </li> <li>Deep understanding of the web and technologies such as web browsers, HTTP, JavaScript and WebAssembly.</li> <li>Experience working in low-latency real time environments such as game streaming, game engine architecture, high frequency trading, payment systems.</li> <li>Experience debugging, optimizing and identifying failure modes in a large-scale Linux-based distributed system.</li> </ul><p><strong>What Makes Cloudflare Special?</strong></p> <p>We’re not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company.
