Job Title: Baseball Head Coach
Reports To: Athletic Director
Location: Southfield A&T High School
Start Date/End Date: November 2026- March 2027
Salary: $4,200 Stipend per SEA/CBA paid at the end of the season based on the payment calendar.

Job Summary:
The Head Baseball Coach is responsible for  developing, leading, and maintaining a competitive high school baseball program that aligns with the mission and goals of the school's athletic department. The coach will provide leadership that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, and academic success among student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, plan, and oversee all aspects of the baseball program, including practices, games, and offseason conditioning.
  • Teach proper baseball fundamentals, mechanics, and strategies appropriate to high school competition.
  • Develop detailed practice plans that focus on skill progression, team cohesion, and player safety.
  • Foster a culture of academic accountability, teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure eligibility and success in the classroom.
  • Supervise all team activities, including travel to away games and tournaments.
  • Manage and maintain baseball equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school officials regarding schedules, expectations, and program needs.
  • Ensure adherence to district, league, and state association rules and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with assistant coaches to ensure consistent instruction and program development.
  • Serve as a positive representative of the baseball program within the school and local community.

 
Qualifications:

  • Previous baseball coaching experience at the high school/club level or higher required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of baseball fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Concussion Awareness certification (or willingness to obtain before the season).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and perform skills and drills.
  • Must meet all district and state athletic association certification and training requirement
