About the role

The Director of Ambulatory Operations is responsible for overseeing the operations of designated services and locations within the Ambulatory Enterprise. This role involves planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, projects, and operations within the assigned areas of responsibility. The position ensures excellence in operational performance and service delivery while fostering the management and professional development of the assigned staff

 

The Director of Ambulatory Operations responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Manage the operation of ambulatory services across multiple locations, ensuring optimal functionality and alignment with strategic plans, goals, and budgets.
  • Build, develop, and maintain processes to support the strategic direction for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Establish operational initiatives to improve safety, quality, cost-efficiency, and access to services.
  • Partner with the Chief Ambulatory Executive to set operational goals, implement quality improvement initiatives, and achieve high patient satisfaction ratings.
  • Develop and enforce operational standards and policies for service delivery, customer service, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Oversee the operations budget for the assigned area(s), ensuring compliance with organizational fiscal requirements and goals.
  • Participate in INTEGRIS Health's strategic planning process, validating projections and aligning with institutional goals and objectives.
  • Monitor internal and external environments to identify actual or potential threats and opportunities, providing proactive responses in collaboration with the Chief Ambulatory Executive.
  • Ensure adherence to governmental regulations and industry standards, including compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements.
  • Manage and develop staff effectively, including hiring, evaluating performance and competency, and addressing disciplinary or counseling needs as required. 
  • The Director of Ambulatory Operations reports to the Chief Ambulatory Executive and will have operational oversight of assigned projects and service lines.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, clinical discipline, or a related field (a master’s degree is highly preferred).
  • Significant experience leading outpatient services lines is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of progressive management experience within a healthcare environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of current national healthcare policies and trends within the political landscape.
  • Proficiency in leadership, management, and performance improvement principles.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to various audiences and communication platforms.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
