The RN-Clinical Care Quality Assurance is responsible for evaluation of the quality of patient care at the direction of the Director of Quality & Patient Safety. Monitors and validates compliance with current high risk and high priority patient care standards (i.e. National Patient Safety Goals), process improvements and implementation of best practices for the purposes of identifying outliers or trends in data sets that indicate improvement may be needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

License /Certification

Required: CA Registered Nurse License

Education

Preferred: BSN

Experience

Preferred: Minimum of two years healthcare experience/chart abstraction

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential

Provides timely and accurate data collection (electronically abstracted or observational) on high risk, high priority elements of clinical care at the direction of the Director of Quality & Patient Safety.

Ensures accuracy of data through quality assurance and data validation functions through focused review of pre-designated measures. Establishes and implements procedures for the quality assurance and data validation process. 

Provides staff, leaders and quality improvement teams with accurate analysis of quality assurance data for the purposes of identifying outliers or trends in data sets that indicate improvement may be needed. Utilizes software applications for data collection and analysis, such as the use of MS Excel and MS Excel pivot tables.

Synthesizes information from relevant resources (e.g. Electronic health records, registries, external databases, comparative and benchmark data and published research) to demonstrate current practice and identify opportunities for improvement.

Serves as the Kaweah Health NDNQI site administrator, including the accurate and timely submission of nursing sensitive quality metrics to the registry and disseminating data and reports to stakeholders.

Communicates quality improvement priorities and results using narrative and visual tools (e.g. Graphs, dashboards, scorecards) appropriate to the audience.

Performs technical and other support functions for quality workgroups to establish measures for the purpose of quality assurance work.

Conducts concurrent and retrospective clinical chart reviews for potential high risk quality of care concerns. Refers cases to the appropriate committees/leaders for follow-up Prepares and presents chart review results which include analysis and trends to the appropriate committees/leaders.

Develops and maintains positive collaborative working relationships with other departments, leadership and medical staff in an effort to identify and address quality improvement opportunities.

Communicates promptly and effectively; establishes and maintains effective methods for keeping others informed and involved (e.g. Director, medical director, and committees). Written reports and presentations reflect effective written communication skills. Develops and delivers effective oral presentations. Ensures absolute confidentiality of information, communicating only to appropriate staff.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
