What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.  New hires are typically brought into the organization between $59,000.00-$69,000.00.  We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Friday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Details will be discussed during the offer process for selected candidate(s).   

Location & Schedule

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to be onsite 3 days a week at the Denver International Airport. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

The Department of Finance at Denver International Airport is currently seeking a qualified Staff Accountant. This position is primarily responsible for managing and processing accounts payable, with a strong focus on supplier accounts, vendor relationship management, and ensuring timely and accurate payments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, management, and external partners to support and enhance departmental performance.

As a Staff Accountant you can expect to:

  • Work with GAAP and accrual method of accounting

  • Prepare and record expenses entries and analyze account information when required

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner

  • Entering and processing accounts payable (invoices)

  • Research and resolve purchase order and invoice discrepancies

  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date

  • Summarize financial and payment data and collecting information required for financial metrics

  • Assist in improving the accounts payable functions by helping evaluate processes and implementing changes

  • Other duties as assigned
