About the role

The goal of the project is to help prepare for an ADDER-OpenMC coupling. The primary tasks are as follows. The student will work on creating an open-source full core reactor model available for development and testing purposes of an ADDER-OpenMC coupling, work to determine the computational resources needed for efficiently running ADDER-OpenMC, and work to determine the effort for an existing project to convert from running an ADDER-MCNP model to an ADDER-OpenMC model. Additional tasks may be worked on to widen the breath of experience for the student or if the primary tasks are completed prior to the end of the appointment.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
  • Applicants must be:

‒ Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution.

‒ Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or

‒ Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test
  • Must complete a satisfactory background check

The expected hiring range for this position is $22.19-$31.07.
