Job Summary:
Provides individualized patient assessments and behavioral treatments, understanding the developmental needs and range for each patient. Identifies and helps change potentially self-destructive or unhealthy behaviors in individuals. Works as part of a team of practitioners in the organization.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Certificate from college or technical school in mental health related education: Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor’s): Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Experience working with acute psychiatric inpatients: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MOAB) or Prevention and Management of Violent Behavior (PVMB) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI): Preferred
Department Specific License/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
- Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM): Required
Essential Functions:
- Interprets patient's self report of behavior and/or appropriate psychological tests. Focuses on the restoration or improvement of physical, social and mental functioning of the patient.
- Focuses on ways in which people respond to their environment (behavior), and provides opportunities for them to learn healthy behavior in specific and observable ways, leading to a positive outcome (health).
- Implements/modifies treatment plan as appropriate to meet identified patient needs. Evaluates assigned individual patients, planning and implementing activity therapy sessions for both one-to-one and groups.
- Ensures group program components are appropriate to the needs of the client population. Initiates appropriate interventions for assigned patient/patient population.
- Maintains accurate records (e.g., patient attendance, supplies needed, etc.) in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
