Compensation Range:

$98,010.00 - $137,218.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Provides patient care in collaboration with a member of medical staff. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works in a collaborative relationship with a physician provider to oversee the care delivered to a patient population or program of services. The NP is responsible for direct patient care, documentation of care delivered, adherence to hospital and nursing policies, procedures and practice standards, education of patients and staff, assurance of service excellence, completion of state and hospital-required reviews of practice, and participation in performance improvement and other activities as required.

Responsibilities

Exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Physician Assistant to join the URMC Department of Neurosurgery's Division of Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke. The successful candidate will work on an interdisciplinary team and will provide medical care to patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, as needed to support a busy clinical service.

Responsibilities:

- Work independently and collaboratively with members of the hospital's interdisciplinary cerebrovascular disease care teams and in outpatient office environment

- Support neuro-endovascular procedures in operating room setting, including assisting faculty and residents in performance of procedures.

- Take part in daily patient rounds on admitted neuro-endovascular procedure patients.

- Complete preoperative workup and consenting of patients in the outpatient setting.

- Perform postoperative follow up and evaluation of surgical patients in the outpatient setting.

- Obtain comprehensive history and physicals.

- Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests.

- Coordinate, review, and follow up on diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and procedures.

- Clearly communicate diagnostic testing results to providers and patients.

- Prescribe medications and support patients in pre and post treatment planning.

- Educate patients and families about cerebrovascular disease processes and treatment plans.

- Updates families about procedural timelines and outcomes.

- Document patient care in electronic medical records.

- Respond to patient questions and concerns.

- Participate in the education of learners (students, new employees, procedural staff), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skills training.

- Maintain patient confidentiality.

- Obtain and maintain certification for Moderate Sedation, BLS, ACLS

Qualifications:

- Applicant must demonstrate excellent communication skills with an ability to make independent decisions in the management of complex stroke and cerebrovascular disease patient care. Extensive on-the-job training will also be provided.

- Applicant must possess a commitment to providing quality patient care and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

- Experienced PA only.

- Preferred experience within neurosurgery or the operating room.

- Current NYS PA license.

- Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficiency in the use of the EPIC electronic medical record system.
