POSITION: Reading Intervention Teacher
LOCATION: Pulaski Early Education Center
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Teacher Certification - Reading Specialist, Elementary Education (k - 6) or a related area
- Master's degree in Reading, Literacy, or Special Education, preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction and literacy intervention practices.
- Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per work day.
- Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
- Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.

Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted, small-group and/or individualized reading intervention based on students' identified literacy needs.
- Deliver explicit, systematic, and evidence-based instruction in areas such as phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written language.
- Use universal screening, diagnostic assessments, classroom performance, and progress-monitoring data to identify students requiring intervention and determine appropriate instructional strategies.
- Develop and implement intervention plans aligned to individual student needs and established school and district literacy frameworks.
- Monitor student progress regularly and use data to adjust the intensity, frequency, grouping, and instructional approach of interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, intervention services, progress-monitoring results, and instructional adjustments.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention instruction with grade-level standards, classroom instruction, and student learning goals.
- Participate in collaborative problem-solving and student support meetings to review student progress and determine appropriate next steps.
- Support the implementation of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) and other school-based intervention processes.
- Communicate regularly with administrators, teachers, and families regarding student progress and instructional needs.
- Provide recommendations regarding instructional strategies, resources, and interventions to support students' literacy development.
- Differentiate instruction based on students' developmental levels, learning profiles, language needs, and individual learning needs.
- Establish a supportive, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment that promotes student engagement, confidence, and ownership of learning.
- Maintain high expectations for student achievement and use culturally responsive practices to support equitable access to literacy instruction.
- Participate in professional learning focused on literacy instruction, intervention, assessment, and evidence-based practices.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with applicable federal, state, and district requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administrator.
