Role Summary
EHS Leader will engage with the team to drive a proactive culture across the manufacturing facility. This leader will partner with the operations team to evolve Wabtec’s EHS. Partnering cross functionally to understand risk, program compliance gaps as well as levers to drive metrics, program compliance and lean principals. In this role you will be responsible for tracking and communicating leading indicator scorecards for the operations team. Educating and communicating operations leaders to improve EHS cadence and standard operating rhythms. The EHS leader will drive program efforts for the overall environmental, health and safety of the facility. In this role you will be responsible for making a positive impact to the culture of the facility through team member engagement, education and involvement. This position requires working on-site and on the shop floor as an essential function.
Hours
Hours onsite will be primarily on day shift and have some overlap both day and nights or a rotation between day and night shifts based on business need.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with all Federal, State, Local and Business Best Practice EHS regulations and standards.
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership of site performance in meeting EHS goals and objectives
- Lead the validation of health, safety, and environmental Frameworks to ensure 100% compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory training and requirements by following the health and safety framework.
- Develop a systematic approach to dealing with organizational changes throughout site
- Work closely with operations teams to identify and address EHS related concerns with site operations, equipment, and new products
- Perform necessary administrative activities associated with effective management of shop operations, including necessary interface activities with other functions and organizations required to accomplish all objectives.
- Maintain site EHS metrics and work cooperatively with EHS HQ on various projects and initiatives, including GHG reduction, sustainability, and culture change.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through implementation of EHS related KPIs to measure the organization’s progress with EHS specific goals
- Ensure site personnel understand and comply with all environmental certifications, permits and regulations. Implement solutions that drive compliance.
- Work with internal and external team to maintain air permit documentation
- Develop and maintain digital management information systems for demonstrating compliance with air permit requirements
- Work to implement engineering solutions to ensure compliance with site environmental permits
- Implement and audit team member requirements for site permits
- Documentation of compliance with all regulatory permitting
- Preparation of regulatory reporting for local governing regulatory bodies and USEPA
- Updating and delivering regulatory compliance training
- Review and track upcoming regulatory changes potential impacting facilities
- Implement other environmental programs for site
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelors’ degree in health sciences, safety engineering, environmental engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years at a site leadership role at a plant.
- Must have sound knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulatory and statutory requirements including ISO certifications.
