Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for an energetic and detail-oriented person to fill an Account Technician I located at Sheridan Correctional Center. This position will prepare facility payroll, process payments to vendors, and monitor expenditures. In addition, the selected candidate will record, calculate and process a variety of reports to submit to Central Office, maintain various funds and related journals, and perform internal operation audits. Job Responsibilities
- Prepares facility payroll.
- Processes payments to vendors.
- Monitors expenditures of obligating documents initiating increases, decreases or cancellations.
- Records, calculates, and processes a variety of reports to submit to Central Office.
- Maintains the Travel and Allowance Imprest Fund and related journals for released individuals in custody.
- Notifies department supervisors of payroll issues in accordance with Administrative Directives (AD’s) and Institutional Policies.
- Performs internal operation audits, in accordance with Administrative Directives and Institutional Directives.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience keeping records of and entering payroll.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience performing complex payroll calculations.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience processing vendor payments.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring expenditures and maintaining payroll files.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience recording, assembling, calculating, and processing payroll reports.

- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
