JOB SUMMARY:
The Commercial Engine Sales Manager will be responsible for managing the commercial sales activities in the Power Systems division. Included in this are EPG sales, industrial engine sales, marine engine sales, and sales of electrical support equipment. This role is a client and operations facing role that facilitates collaboration between the sales, project management and engineering teams to ensure alignment on client requirements, project timelines, and quality standards. Prime responsibilities will include maximizing market share, inventory utilization, asset management and profitability in each area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Must be able to effectively manage a team to achieve targeted results.
2. Must have a technical understanding of the various industries requiring commercial goods and customer value drivers in each industry segment.
3. Maintain good customer, factory and OEM relations.
4. Must develop a marketing plan that ensures success of the sales and financial plan.
5. Must budget and manage sales and expenses to ensure targeted levels of profitability.
6. Must meet targeted objectives in asset management, utilization, inventory turns, etc.
7. Create an environment of ownership and personal accountability where each person is responsible and accountable for their performance.
8. Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Learn and use Empire, Caterpillar and allied product procedures and systems.
• Ensure performance evaluations are complete and on time.
• Mentor staff to develop the next generation of leaders.
• Work closely with commercial service organization to maximize departmental profitability and identify additional revenue opportunities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Maintain current MSHA card if work area requires.
• Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
• Work within and promote corporate values.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Demonstrated basic engine and technical skill competence.
• Knowledge and skills to operate and understand sales force automation and customer contact management tools.
• Knowledge and skills to operate web-based information platforms.
• Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming adhere to company policy.
• Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively.
• Consistent attendance.
• Knowledge of Empire and Caterpillar’s history.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), college graduate preferred.
• Current driver’s license.
• Minimum of 5 years related experience.
• Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
