Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Pediatric Phlebotomist to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY:
Collect routine and specialty testing patient specimens and ensure proper patient identification and labeling of specimens. Perform venipuncture on pediatric and adult patients. Provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person to all patients, doctors and other medical staff. Work well under pressure. Follow all applicable hospital / laboratory policies and procedures. Must be able to prioritize specimens (STAT, ASAP, Routine, Pre-op, etc.), multitask, and be flexible in order to accommodate the needs of the laboratory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be proficient and timely in the collection of blood samples from pediatric patients, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples.

Be proficient and timely in the collection of other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples.

Ability to work independently in the clinical setting.

Follow all applicable hospital / laboratory policies and procedures to include, but not limited to patient identification, specimen collection, specimen rejection, specimen labeling, and specimen stability.

Be proficient in the utilization of order of draw when collecting blood specimens.

Knowledge of ordering, stocking and rotating laboratory supplies.

Provide competent and quality clinical care to all patients.

Adherence by staff to all policies and procedures to include the employee handbook.

Provides age appropriate care.

Reporting of patient and staff incidents through the occurrence report process.

Monitoring and management of formal complaints.

Comply with standard precautions by using personal protective equipment as required.

Develop, utilize, and maintain professional relationships within our organization and its affiliates.

Maintain effective working relationships between nursing, clerical, medical and allied health staff.
