Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Interior Design Strategist to be based in Chicago, IL.
About Buildings + Places:
Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our Chicago studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Higher Education and Federal market sectors. Job Summary/ Responsibilities:
This Senior Interior Design Strategist is a leadership position driving strategic interior design initiatives, encompassing extensive research in workplace dynamics, change management, and user behavior. Responsibilities include leading visioning, programming efforts, and collaborating on multifaceted projects while nurturing client relationships. As a leader at AECOM, contribute to fostering an environment that promotes qualities such as leadership, integrity, respect, and responsibility. We’re seeking a leader who will motivate the team in a way that ignites collaboration, experimentation, innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship across the studio.
The position requires a proactive approach to refining design concepts, prioritizing multiple projects, and exhibiting expertise in 3D modeling and FF&E. Candidates with licensure, extensive corporate design experience, and a knack for business development, along with LEED or WELL certification, are highly desired. This role seeks a leader who can drive transformative design solutions, mentor emerging talent, and contribute to a culture of innovation and collaboration.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Continuously research workplace dynamics, change management, user behavior, and psychology to inform and strengthen strategic design recommendations. Aim to enhance the synergy between strategy and design for more informed decision-making.
- Lead workplace visioning and programming initiatives, implementing effective change management strategies to drive transformative interior design solutions aligned with client objectives.
- Collaborate with team members and design directors in leading projects from programming, test fits, schematic and design development, through construction documents and construction administration.
- Leading, engaging and partnering with clients on billable project specific work. This fosters strong client relationships and presents opportunities for future work.
- Be a subject matter expert in Workplace Interiors environments, demonstrating leadership as a Client Leader who anticipates future workplace trends, employs research and data driven design methodologies to innovate and adapt to evolving needs and cues within the industry.
- Drive continuous improvement and client satisfaction by refining and enhancing design concepts and project approaches with each project iteration, fostering a stream of repeat business.
- Lead collaborative design efforts for projects of varying size and complexity, overseeing detailed design concepts, space planning, 3D concepts, visual presentations, and material palettes while aiding in construction documentation and technical coordination.
- Lead and direct the development of design presentations and present to clients and owners.
