  • Monitor changes to federal and relevant state and local laws applying to a Consumer Products and e-commerce business.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to determine strategy and approach on corporate policies and risk management with an approach that balances pragmatism, risk and compliance.
  • Assist senior legal team members in active and strategic management, in partnership with outside counsel where appropriate, of a diverse and wide range of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including class action lawsuits and multi-party litigation.
  • In conjunction with legal and tech leadership, advise on a variety of data privacy matters, including all aspects of U.S., Canada and Australian privacy laws and work with company information security teams on privacy programs including incident response preparation, and assessing privacy risks.
  • Partner with the marketing and e-commerce teams in the creation of content that appropriately expresses our brand in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Partner with various trade associations and external advisors to monitor changes to the regulatory landscape affecting the personal care and e-commerce industry and analyze and advise on business impacts and mitigations.
 Requirements:
  • Top law school, strong academic record, and a current, good standing member of the California Bar.
  • 7-10 years of relevant combined in-house and law firm experience. 2-5 years prior in-house experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills supporting interaction with various levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to understand key business drivers to effectively balance legal risk and business objectives and effectively communicate and resolve issues with business stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments and commitment to meeting work deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise practical business judgment, and organize and prioritize workload.
