Senior Software Engineer, UI - UX Platform

The UX Platform team is responsible for developing and maintaining our design system, related tooling and libraries. As a Senior Software Engineer on our UX Platform team you will contribute to the components, documentation, tokens, and tooling that makes up our design system. You will help to maintain our current ecosystem and assist in planning and developing the next generation of the Fastly UI. You will implement tools and processes that enable our organization to deliver delightful user experiences efficiently and with confidence. 

What You'll Do:

• Translate design concepts into innovative UI solutions that blend design, technology, strategy, and accessibility
• Build tested, maintainable, and usable UI components in our living design system
• Collaborate with other frontend engineers, including participating in code reviews and Request for Comments (RFCs)
• Mentor peers and promote inclusivity and best practices within and across teams
• Advocate for the user within the engineering team

What We're Looking For: 

• 4+ years developing and maintaining robust user experiences using TypeScript / JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
• Experience building and maintaining design systems
• Experience building & testing production applications with React or other JavaScript frameworks
• Experience with modern web development tools and processes such as package management, module bundlers, and task runners
• Strong understanding of user experience principles and accessibility best practices

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

• Experience with monorepo tooling,
• CI/CD best practices

Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours and will participate in the on-call support rotation evenings and weekends as needed.

This Hybrid position can be hired in any Fastly US office, with preference on to the following locations:

• San Francisco, CA
• Denver, CO

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. 

Salary: 

The estimated salary range for this position is $155,370 to $194,210.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
