POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on major equipment and general building and grounds maintenance within the System. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System Incentives. Performs major repairs per department competencies.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
At least five years experience in all facets of building maintenance in a maintenance environment preferred. In lieu of work experience formal technical training in building maintenance, machine maintenance, AC/DC electrical systems, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, or successful completion of building maintenance Apprenticeship will be considered.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Must have valid Illinois driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to read and following written instructions. Familiarity with Illinois applicable codes. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Good oral communication and customer service skills. Ability to effectively and respectfully interact with staff and the public within the organization and outside vendors, inspectors and contractors. Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts routine building maintenance rounds following established procedures. Maintains confidentiality of position acquired information.
- Performs major electrical repairs including changing ballasts, light bulbs, switches and assists with replacement of light fixtures according to established policies.
- Performs major plumbing repairs of sinks, drains, commodes, showers and medial gas outlets following established procedures.
- Assists in maintaining proper stocking inventory of the parts supply crib following established protocols and informs Manager of any product shortages.
- Performs major carpentry duties
