Job Description

The Healthcare Hospitality (HHCAP) Intern provides support services functions to a diverse patient population through serving wholesome and attractive meals and providing environmental services tasks through performing routine cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, and other areas as assigned. This highly visible role supports patient care activities while providing exceptional customer service through positive, friendly interactions in a fast-paced environment. As a HHCAP Intern, you interact with a variety of patients and staff and are held to the highest standards for ensuring the satisfaction of patients and visitors alike. HHCAP Interns are responsible for maintaining sanitation and infection control requirements, proper dilution rates of chemicals, and following routine procedures for cleaning and meal preparation.

This position requires a positive attitude and excellent people skills. Personal hygiene and appearance is important for employees in this position. Expected to remain on-task and work efficiently throughout the shift. Coordinates and collaborates with hospital floor staff, including RNs, CNAs, and other clinical staff to ensure meals are provided to patients in a manner to best support their nutritional and medical needs. To be successful in this position, you must be a self-starter and highly motivated with an attention for detail. This position is expected to work both independently and as part of a team, and carry out all assigned tasks within the allotted time. Must be flexible in job assignments and willing to perform a variety of tasks as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Rising High School Junior or Senior enrolled in the HHCAP program.

Qualifications
Ability to do simple calculations and record keeping.


Must work with all ages and disabilities of hospitalized patients.


Must be able to work independently and follow routine procedures.


Ability to operate a cash register efficiently.


Competent and Hospitable to successfully interact with customers.


Must possess positive attitude and have excellent communication and customer service skills.


Competent and hospitable to successfully interact with patients according to their special needs.


Must be flexible in job assignments/tasks and be able to handle stressful situations.


Must be willing to work around blood/bodily fluids and people with communicable diseases.


Must maintain strict confidentiality of patient information both inside/outside hospital.


Must complete and pass Serve Safe certification prior to completion of Internship.
