The Optical Supervisor is responsible for the overseeing optical operations, training of opticians and working in a team environment to ensure the highest quality of care. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position typically working Monday - Friday between 8am-7pm.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- ABOC certification required
- Minimum three years’ experience working as optician or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support/CPR training (offered by Cherry Health) required
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate leadership and management skills.
- Foster a culture of mentoring, coaching, motivating and engaging staff.
- Demonstrate mastery of daily optical retail operations.
- Oversee optical operations.
- Model and communicate key values that support Cherry Health’s mission.
- Schedule staff hours of work and assignments to ensure efficient operation.
- Approve staff time cards and paid time off.
- Support optical staff on optical floor 16-24 hours/week as assigned.
- Direct, supervise, train and evaluate optician competencies.
- Evaluate opticians using measurable quality objectives.
- Have thorough understanding of optician certification processes & assist staff pursuing certification.
- Address performance issues consistently, promptly and appropriately.
- Participate in staff meetings to communicate organization initiatives and updates.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of department/program budget.
- Maintain budget by seeking cost-effective alternative products and services.
- Effectively work with staff and patients to resolve patient complaints.
- Monitor optician/retail productivity.
- Work closely with manager to ensure optical operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with the manager of vision services and director of school programs to assure efficient and quality optical services within school-linked vision services.
- Participate in developing policies and assure that they are adhered to.
- Assure accurate lens/frame inventory at least quarterly.
- Manage frame board selection & organization.
- Assure accurate billing practices.
- Reconcile lab invoices.
- Understand and adhere to special program funds.
- Submit check requests for patient refunds.
