Job Description:

Senior Director of Operations Excellence

GDIT has an opportunity for an execution focused Senior Director of Operational Excellence (OPEX) in our Army and Defense Agencies (A&DA) Sector.  This sector focuses on the delivery of a wide range of IT services, Logistics Support, Training and Cyber Support Services. You will have responsibility and accountability for reporting to and working with the VP/GM of the A&DA Sector supporting and improving Sector operational functions with a focus on Operational Risk Management and Program Management Excellence. Your primary focus will be to work with growth and execution Business Areas on the successful low-risk delivery of projects from bid to completion across the Sector as well as overall improvement of Program Management standards.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Senior Director of Operational Excellence (OPEX), the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Army and Defense Agencies. You will play a crucial role in program risk mitigation by solidifying the risk management framework for managing bids to proposals to closeouts. More specifically, you will:

  • Manage, improve and monitor Sector-Level comprehensive program risk categories throughout the Sector

  • Develop and execute Sector-level program “Risk Tiering” requirements driving management oversight and oversight governance requirements

  • Development of program execution “Risk Triggers” to eliminate program performance surprise

  • Support comprehensive risk analysis through program proposal, transition, execution and closing stages ensuring risk is consistently identified and mitigated throughout the sector

  • Supporting Proposal activities:

    • Work collaboratively with the growth team ensuring bid estimates are complete, with adequate contingencies and management reserves accounting for identified risk included in our bid price. 

    • Work with the support functions, Business Area VPs and bid PM’s ensuring completeness of Basis of Estimate (BOE) artifacts, ensuring appropriate Level of Effort (LOE) is accounted for to successfully deliver projects and all required design documents, CDRL’s or other project documentation. 

    • Work with the proposal teams ensuring proper development of executable Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) as needed. 

  • Supporting Transition activities:

    • Ensure that risks identified in proposal are properly addressed and mitigated

    • Support BA VPs and PMs as needed with transition execution oversight

    • Coordinate as needed with functional staff to mitigate transition risks

  • Supporting Execution activities:

    • Support Sector-level governance and oversight requirements including managing Sector risk reviews and evaluations

    • Directly support specific programs with major execution risk, coordinating for support resource and providing oversight as required or requested

  • Play a key role in developing a cadre of PM’s and functional representatives that are experienced and skilled in the execution of FFP work; his role involves a significant amount of mentoring and coaching. 

  • Continuous development of personal leadership capabilities and mentor leadership, management, and technical capabilities of all program managers and high performing talent. 

  • Understand, promote, and hold the organization accountable for all company, customer, and program policies and procedures.  Develop and maintain a culture of quality, performance, and continuous improvement within the organization.

  • Provides enterprise leadership, direction, and management support and assists with the planning, supervision, and execution of all aspects of contract performance, scheduling, and technical performance while requiring strong interpersonal and communication abilities. 

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communications.
