What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Attribute responsibility for vehicle safety performance and sign-off, ensuring innovative and optimized solutions for Scout trucks and SUVs.
- Foster an environment of engineering excellence, serving as a source of expertise and knowledge in vehicle safety areas.
- Build and coach a diverse team while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development among team members.
- Lead the collaborative design and creation of a simulation environment for testing new body system concepts and ideas related to vehicle handling, safety features, and overall driving experience.
- Develop prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
- Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
- Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
- Contribute to the design of production facilities for body systems of the Scout trucks & SUVs.
- Manage resources efficiently including infrastructure, financial, supplier partners and people.
- Be a key member and decision maker within the technical leadership team and liaison with all Scout functions.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, engineering management, or a relevant field.
- 10 to 15+ years of experience in developing and integrating Vehicle safety systems, experience in body structures, electrical and mechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch).
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety principles, regulations, and standards.
- Strong technical skills and expertise in Vehicle Safety, employing a 1st Principles approach to problem-solving.
- Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.
