Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Test Engineer/Analyst Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at the Northrop Grumman COCO5 facility at 10125 Federal Dr, Colorado Springs and Schriever Space Force Base, CO.

Position Overview:

  

The selected Sr. Principal Test Engineer/Analyst Lead will support Warfighter Simulations and Services (WSS) which includes the Missile Defense Advanced Simulation (MDASim) and Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) product lines of the DE Task Order on the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC). 

This position requires a Sr. Principal Test Engineer/Analyst Lead to support the development of WSS products. This includes designing, testing, analyzing, benchmarking, validation and verification, documenting, and integrating simulation products for the WSS organization.

Essential Functions:  

  • Testing new capabilities, documenting new features, and analyzing simulation performance
  • Working with product and development teams, as well as external users and customers to determine acceptance criteria for new features
  • Creating Python tools to support analysis of WSS benchmarking, anchoring, and Verification and Validation activities
  • Supporting the modeling and simulation of missile defense systems
  • Supporting agile software team within the context of a larger team
  • Supporting the development of simulation and software architecture
  • Will Interface with WSS customers and present technical briefings to MDST WSS stakeholders as needed
  • Researching technical details related to various missile defense systems to better support model creation and enhancement
  • Will lead the test engineering team in efforts to improve product quality through rigorous testing, analysis, and review.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience
  • Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD secret level; a minimum of an interim secret clearance will be required to start.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
  • Applicants must have a strong background in test engineering relevant to the essential functions of the position outlined above.
  • Previous experience successfully leading a team of people
  • Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices
  • Understanding of software development and Linux platforms
  • Experience in developing tools in Python and/or MATLAB, or similar analysis software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with C++, C#, or Java source code
  • Experience in agile software development methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Knowledge/experience in SQL queries
  • Experience in engineering M&S systems using an optimistic and/or conservative discrete event simulation p
