Job Description


Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Associate DirectorCost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management services for a key client in the data center sector. This role will oversee stakeholder coordination and ensure successful project delivery, while providing strategic commercial leadership across major hyperscale data center developments in the Phoenix metro area.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cost management team and ensure delivery across all accountabilities.
  • Interface with clients, stakeholders, and consultants throughout all project stages.
  • Perform quantity surveying, cost control, and change management activities.
  • Maintain clear communication with general contractors, owner’s reps, and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate strategic and operational management of cost and project controls services.
  • Report on overall commercial status and drive best practices across projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures and tools.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and mentor team members.
  • Set strategy and ambition for the team, fostering growth and development.
  • Manage financial performance, including margin tracking and forecasting.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans and performance metrics aligned with company goals.
  • Implement internal business management systems and delivery methodologies.
  • Represent the office in internal and external audits.
  • Act as a brand ambassador and build a pipeline of opportunity in the data center sector.
  • Advise on contracting and procurement strategies across various industries.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and deliver presentations to senior stakeholders.
  • Provide weekly updates on project status, staffing, and initiatives.
  • Identify cross-selling and business generation opportunities.
  • Contribute to proposal and RFP development for new clients and projects.
  • Ensure knowledge sharing and input into internal databases.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in cost management within the construction industry.
  • Experience in construction consultancy strongly preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in Quantity Surveying; RICS certification or equivalent accreditation.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and organizational communication skills.
  • Experience with hyperscale data center projects or large-scale infrastructure preferred.
  • Understanding of sustainability and water/resource efficiency in data center design.
  • Proficiency in cost management software and project controls tools.
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor talent, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
