Summary
This position supports the financial operations of Salt River Project Employee Recreational Association-PERA. PERA consists of three, individual, non-profit corporations spanning four locations. This position requires knowledge of accounting systems, banking and treasury, sales and income taxes, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP accounting).
What You'll Do
• Troubleshoot PERA accounting and retail point-of-sale systems.
• Perform user acceptance testing for accounting system upgrades and modifications.
• Involves problem resolution with staff from all PERA sites, administrator duties and data integrity. Work with internal and external sources as needed to resolve issues. Assists with additional programs such as cell phone databases that are an integral part of the cell phone program. The accuracy of the data is critical to the operation. Support new systems/programs as needed due to changes in business operations.
• Job duties include:
o Review of financial data for monthly presentation to PERA Audit Committee and PERA Board.
o Assisting internal and external auditors; & identifying and resolving audit issues.
o Account Reconciliations.
o Journal Entries.
• Assist, as needed, with accounts payable and accounts receivable to insure the proper handling of these functions. Some of these functions include working with staff on:
o Collections, proper recording in general ledger, meeting taxing authority requirements such as Federal 1099 requirements and sales taxes.
o Preparation of tax returns for all three PERA non-profit Corporations, which include: Federal Form 990-Return of Org exempt from income tax Federal Form 990T-exempt organization business income tax return, Arizona Form 99-exempt org annual return and Arizona Form 99T-Exempt Organization business income tax return. Assist sales tax filings and problem resolution.
• Provide data to Annual Audit and Financial Statement preparation by an external audit team.
• Support asset management and capitalization of PERA assets.
• Support technology and process improvements for all financial business functions.
• Coordinate with Analysts and Technicians to provide cross-functional support to other PERA business areas.
