The Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Clinician (APC). This role involves providing comprehensive outpatient clinical care, focusing on non-surgical management of pelvic floor disorders including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and bowel incontinence.

Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required:
Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
Often: Infectious disease, oils (there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids), hazards (includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals).

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing, sitting.
Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
  • Provides outpatient clinical care at 2-3 University of Utah clinical sites, depending on need.
  • See patients independently for non-surgical management of pelvic floor disorders, primarily urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
  • Manages behavioral, medication, and in-office procedural aspects of patient care.
  • Provides pre- and post-operative care.
  • Performs common clinic procedures including pessary fittings, urodynamics, and general women’s healthcare procedures like pap smear screenings and biopsies.
  • Potential for training in more advanced procedures such as clinic-based neuromodulation procedures and cystoscopy.
  • Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions.
  • Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physicians to provide optimal patient medical management.
  • Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams including urology and colorectal surgery.
  • Participates in the education of medical trainees, and attendance of relevant academic committees and conferences
  • Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
  • Assists in the collection of data for research projects.

Minimum Qualifications
Required:

  • Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah.
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Preferred:

  • Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
