Manager, Software Engineering

**This position is classified as hybrid with the expectation to come in office for special events or meetings (approximately once a month or less).**

We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager who will be responsible for technical leadership over a team of software engineers.
What You'll Do
• Responsible for technical leadership over a team of software engineers.
• Collaborate with Product, business stakeholders, and others on the actualization of strategic data priorities, fostering exceptional technical governance.
• Build and support a high-performing team, helping team engineers with career development.
• Conduct code reviews and ensures proper software testing standards for high quality.
• Assure the daily activities of the team(s) meet the required objectives, quality, and timelines committed.
• Spend approximately 70% of time developing/reviewing software with the team.
• Foster good technical and data governance within the team, establishing best-in-class practices and standards for technical execution.
• Formulate and monitor key engineering metrics for team performance and success.
• Seek to implement and improve team processes.
• Work with the Lead Engineer and a Principal Data Engineer to execute technical plans, monitoring scope and driving velocity.
• Pair programs with engineers on the team to provide real-time feedback and to look for learning opportunities.
• Coordinate closely with end-users, business stakeholders, and other department leaders to design solutions and drive priorities for applications.
• Perform technical interviews to ensure incoming candidates to the team are both a technical and culture fit.
What We’re Looking For:
• Requires Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration), or foreign equivalent.
• 6 years of relevant experience.
• 3 years of experience with full-stack application components, such as Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, GraphQL and PostgreSQL.
• 3 years of experience with RESTful API design and asynchronous data flow patterns.
• 2 years of experience with cloud computing (Amazon EKS) microservices architecture/deployment strategies, and the benefits common artifacts/components.
• Position allows for telecommuting from any state with a registered company office, including MO, IL, AR, GA, TN, NC, TX, FL and IN.
