JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will lead the business strategy & development including partnerships for Malay Nusantara Business (MNB) and Astro Shaw. You will manage the P&L of Malay Nusantara business and  Astro Shaw – ensuring effective budget allocation for MNB, sound investment to drive top-line and to sustain the momentum of profitability of Astro Shaw. The role is key in managing the workload and deliverable of the unit that encompasses across Malay Nusantara Business, Astro Shaw and Content Division

Managing the Premium business initiative ensuring the commercial viability of each investment. This role also spearheads content investment as well as content creation through multiple platforms – Films, Premium Series, and Digital Entertainment Platforms. Thus, the role will be responsible to further drive revenue generating and cost saving initiatives to improve the MNB and Astro Shaw’s performance.

The AVP, Films and Strategic Partnerships role is to manage the Film IP arm of the Nusantara department which includes Co-production, investments such as Film / Mini series fund and monetisation.

IP/Premium Content/ Film Investments

  • Identify, asses, analyse and develop cases for new film investment opportunities to support the department’s vision and goals
  • To manage on-going films in the department’s investment portfolio, and ensure all necessary actions are taken to guarantee success
  • To maintain a good relationship with investors, as well as the capital investment team who is managing the department’s portfolio

Film Co-Production

  • Identify, asses, analyse and develop cases for new film co-production opportunities to support the department’s vision and goals
  • Working closely with co-producers to develop storylines and scripts, produce, shoot and deliver high quality films for the Nusantara market
  • To manage on-going co-productions, ensuring all necessary actions are taken to guarantee success
  • To identify and close potential sponsors for each co-production and affiliated campaigns
  • To identify potential partnerships that will mutual benefit each existing party involved
  • To manage and execute successful and effective film marketing campaigns
  • To deal with cinemas, exhibitors, and distributors, ensuring high exposure and distribution of all co-produced films

Film Distribution/Monetisation

  • Lead the development of new film release plan for each projects that will maximise the unique selling points and inform the widest possible audience about the film. Includes provision of reports covering marketing plans, expenditure evaluations, forecasts and revenue breakdowns
  • Outreach to potential distribution and marketing partners including Exhibitors, OTT (Netflix / Hooq), PPV,  DVD distributors, Digital and VOD aggregators, TV sales agents, foreign sales agents as well as sponsors and promotional partners.
  • Provides advisory support on the development and growth of existing businesses, the exploration and evaluation of new business opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:

Who you are:

  • Degree in Marketing, Film, Economics / Business Management or Equivalent
  • 5 years + of Film development and/or distribution, business development, content marketing, or equivalent
  • At least 3 years experience in managing, developing and implementing strategies directly related to increasing revenue, forming partnerships, upselling offerings and lowering overheads and cost.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good networking skills- collaborate well with executive management, partners, client management, agencies etc
  • Manage challenging solutions and recommend effective solutions to problems
  • Business management including demonstrating cost effective ways to increase productivity, manage expenses
  • Excellent literacy/writing and presentation skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Proficient in Microsoft application softwares : Office, Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Proficient in financial analysis (with impact to business)
