ROUTE SETTER APPRENTICE
Bouldering Project's Setting Program seeks to provide varied and interesting climbing at all ability levels. The Apprenticeship Program is designed to take an established climbers and support their development into a competent setter. The apprenticeship is 2-3 months long for 2-3 days per week as a seasonal employee; the position may become a permanent position based on available hours and apprentice performance. Setters must demonstrate a high level of teamwork and willingness to learn. The current setting schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM. Apprentice reports to Head Setter, with development support from Assistant Head Setter and other Setters.
Many duties require the availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and events, including possible evenings and weekends. Duties often occur before and after regular business hours.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years climbing experience
- Team work, communication skills, and the ability to receive and implement feedback gracefully
- Passion for climbing and community
- Desire to continually work to improve own climbing and setting skills
- Preferred: Ability to climb V6 in many styles comfortably
- Preferred: Experience coaching youth and/or adult climbing
DUTIES
- Participate in, and contribute to, team forerunning of the majority of boulder problems
- Assist in wall maintenance tasks as they arise during the setting day
- Help maintain setting shop and equipment
- Perform setting-related tasks as directed by Head Setter
- Maintain professional relationships with other BP staff
- Interact with customers and be a positive representative of BP in the community
- Occasionally work additional hours (may include nights and weekends) for special, setting-related events
- Other duties as assigned
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Scheduled for 2-3 setting days per week (In general, 8am - 6pm)
- Additional hours in other departments may be available upon request.
