Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, organized and independent clinical research fellow for a one-year clinical research fellowship (renewable for a second year) devoted to cardiac amyloidosis for the Amyloidosis Program and the Gaggin Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Leveraging our high clinical volume, multidisciplinary expertise, and cutting-edge research infrastructure, the program trains the next generation of clinician-scientists to advance amyloidosis care and outcomes.

The fellow will be closely involved in the initial work-up and follow up of new cardiac-amyloidosis referrals—reviewing primary clinical data, identifying and coordinating additional evaluations and multidisciplinary consults, and drafting an evidence-based management plan under close mentorship. The fellow will present each case at the weekly Amyloidosis Program conference, incorporate team feedback, and prepare clear follow-up communications for referring clinicians—gaining hands-on expertise in systematic diagnosis and comprehensive care planning for amyloidosis.
The fellow will gain experience across the clinical-research spectrum: recruiting and enrolling participants; conducting study visits (histories, phlebotomy, questionnaires, coordinating follow-up); collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting data; drafting abstracts and manuscripts; and liaising with the IRB and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• MD degree (or equivalent) and completion of a one-year internal medicine internship
• For international graduates: ECFMG certification
• Interest in amyloidosis, cardiology or completed training in general cardiology
• Highly organized
• Outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong commitment to patient-centered care, research integrity, and collaborative teamwork
• While not required, experience with database creation/maintenance and biostatistics is preferred.
